Chelsea Rae Strama
Miss Rodeo Wisconsin
2007
Chelsea Rae Strama is the 19-year-old daughter of Dr. Dale and Lori Strama,
and eldest sibling to sisters Leslie - 17, Carly - 12, and brother Garrett - 6. A true
Wisconsinite, Chelsea was born and raised in Medford, Wisconsin. In 2006,
Chelsea graduated from Medford Area Senior High School with honors - she was
in the top 5% of her class with a cumulative 4.0 GPA. In the fall of 2006, Chelsea
started her college career at Colorado State University. She is attending CSU
to earn a degree in Veterinary Medicine, specializing in the growing field of
Equine Chiropratic Medicine.
Chelsea's love for horses and America's Number One Sport of Rodeo began
many years ago. Rodeo has been a part of her life since she can remember
attending them. She also remembers seeing her grandfather gladly drive the
beautiful rodeo queens through the parades in his favorite car. She has been riding
since the age of eight and was actively involved in 4-H growing up. Today, she
still enjoys showing and training horses, team penning, working cutting horses
on the family's cattle, and especially - RODEO! Chelsea received the title of
the 2005 Lincoln County Rodeo Days Queen, where she enjoyed promoting
rodeo, meeting people and educating others about rodeo.
Chelsea had been actively involved in her community and high school. She
has been a member of the Black River Riders Horse Club for many years, and has
been a positive leader and role model as she served as president, vice-president
and treasurer. She was a class officer in high school, president of the National
Honor Society, a volunteer for Kids On The Block, a four-year member and officer
in band, a member of many other clubs and a participant in track and field.
She intends to stay just as active throughout her time at CSU by being
involved in the Rodeo Club, the Pre-Vet Club and other organizations. Chelsea
also enjoys skiing, camping, hunting with her dog, working out and spending time
with family and friends.
Chelsea was crowned with the prestigious title of Miss Rodeo Wisconsin 2007
over the 4th of July weekend, 2006, at the Mid-Western Rodeo in Manawa,
Wisconsin. She will travel throughout the state and country promoting the sport
of rodeo and its family-fun environment. She says, "The sport of rodeo is unique
from any other. It has always held the priceless feature of family. Rodeo involves
and entertains everyone from great grandpa to the youngest child. My family has
always been involved in rodeo. It is a time for everyone to be united: family in time
spent together, neighbors in enjoyment and participation of the sport, and our
country through the national anthem and the American history of rodeo. I feel the
sport of rodeo is not recognized by enough people. As Miss Rodeo Wisconsin, it
is my goal to support rodeo, continue its family-based legacy and help increase
the number of contributors. I believe this is all possible if we all just
SADDLE UP!!!"
Chelsea would like to thank Red Turf Custom Tack
